'An Scéil I'
A strongly Irish themed collection of works capturing the mythical essence of old Ireland. 'An Sceil', Irish for 'the story' suggests the idea that every painting carries a history behind it and so the collection is like a snapshot storybook of moments, places and people, that carry a distinct Irish flavour throughout. The collection features Ben Bulben mountain in county Sligo which features in Irish legend, 'Lir on the Lough' is a triptich piece of swans on the lough in Togher in Cork city while drawing inspiration from the legend of the children of Lir. Painted all in black and white, except for the swans beaks painted in orange to draw attention to the idea in the legend where the children are changed into swans by a curse placed on them and are unable to speak to free themselves of the spell. Also in this collection are meticulously detailed portraits of Síofra's mother playing the harp, and scenes from Dingle and her local area of Kinsale.
